Due to the Agniveer Scheme lakhs of youth have been frustrated, Congress will get justice for them
Today, during a joint press conference organized by State Congress Committee’s State Spokesperson Devendra Bushahri, State President of Youth Congress Nigam Bhandari, and Ex-Servicemen Department, he said that Himachal Pradesh, along with being Devbhoomi, is also famous by the name of Veerbhoomi. The first dream of the youth here has been to protect their motherland by joining the army. The soldiers of the state have shown their bravery and valor in the country and abroad in all the wars fought since the last two world wars and till now, in this sequence, Major Somnath Sharma of Mandi district was martyred while protecting Srinagar. He was decorated with Param Vir Chakra (posthumously) for sacrificing his life. After that, three more Param Vir Chakras and many top gallantry medals are also in the names of the warriors of Himachal Pradesh. Despite being a small hill state, Himachal has always been at the forefront of the country due to its military prowess.
But the BJP government at the Center has eclipsed the future of millions of youth not only here but across the country by implementing an illogical army recruitment scheme Agniveer in June 2022.
Before the new Agniveer Recruitment Scheme, despite 1.5 lakh youth passing the physical and medical tests under the two-centuries-old recruitment scheme, the BJP government at the Center did not employ them in the Army. While these youth paid fees, spent on coaching, worked hard, and sweated, they were disappointed. When they wanted to raise their voice, police used force and even cases were registered, this was seen by the whole country a few years ago. When he did not get justice, instead of accepting defeat, he adopted Gandhian policy and sadly decided that now the only way left was a peaceful movement.
As a result, in the end, for their rights in a peaceful manner, these youth completed the 1100-kilometer Satyagraha march from the Champaran district of Bihar to Delhi, enduring rain, cold, heat hunger, and thirst, and reached Delhi. The fascist government did not allow any news of his visit to be broadcast or published on any media channel.
But when Colonel Rohit Choudhary (retired), Chairman of the Ex-Servicemen Department of the All India Congress Committee, got information about this, he contacted these youth, listened to their plight, and made them meet former National President of the Congress Party, Rahul Gandhi, the leader of the Bharat Jodo Yatra. The youth belonging to poor families talked about the injustice done to them by the BJP government at the Centre.
Seeing this condition of the youth of the country, in response to the injustice of the BJP government, Congress MP Rahul Gandhi showed a new ray of hope to these lakhs of youth and assured them to continue fighting ‘from the streets to the Parliament’, even if it means Even if it has to take refuge in the law, the Congress party will not back down. In this series, joint press conferences have been organized in many Lok Sabha constituencies today, raising voices for the demand for justice for these youth in Himachal Pradesh and other states of the country. In this, Himachal Youth Congress President Nigam Bhandari and Congress Ex-Servicemen Department Vice President Parliamentary Constituency Shimla Suresh Kumar, while addressing the journalists, assured the lakhs of youth affected by Agniveer Yojana that he and all the ex-servicemen are standing with these youth.
Last day at Jantar Mantar, the Chairman of All India Congress Ex-Servicemen Department and ex-servicemen along with these youths staged a one-day dharna in which thousands of these youths and their families also participated and demanded the help of the Center for their Young Children. Raised voice for giving justice to the BJP government. It is noteworthy that Nigam Bhandari, President of Youth Congress Himachal said that even before the Assembly elections, he had started a Rojgar Yatra from Kangra in cooperation with all these youth of the state, had dharna and demonstrated, then the former BJP government of the state had permitted him to do so. They were also tortured and lathi-charged, FIR was lodged. But Youth Congress Himachal Pradesh is not going to remain silent now and will call for running this movement across the country. In this crusade of his, the ex-servicemen department and youth of All India Congress will stand strong.
Apart from this, a few months ago, when a young Agniveer soldier of Punjab was martyred, the mortal remains of that martyr Agniveer were quietly left in the martyr’s village without any military honors in a private vehicle and by soldiers without uniforms. Is this the same army of BJP? There is love and attitude towards martyrs. The whole country is watching this.
Agniveer Yojana is in no way in the interest of the Army, nor the country, nor our youth. A shocking thing has come to light from an RTI that lakhs of youth have now started losing interest in joining the Army. If this continues, then qualified soldiers will not be recruited into the army. The reason is that it does not have the same facilities as before and after four years, 75% of the Agniveer trainees will be sent back home after giving nominal benefits from the army.
Therefore, it is in the country’s best interest to end it with immediate effect.
In today’s joint talks, Vice President Ex-Serviceman Suresh Kumar, Youth Congress President Nigam Bhandari, his officials, Ex-Serviceman District Solan Roshanlal Thakur, Captain Ramesh Kumar, Subedar Purna Chand, Subedar Madan Lal were present.
