Drug officials seizes huge cache of spurious drugs in Baddi
CRACKING down on the drug mafia in industrial township Baddi, a team of drug officials of state drug department raided the premises of Aclime Formulations and recovered huge quantity of spurious drugs from the premises in Village Thana at Baddi in this district, on Friday evening.
State drug controller Navneet Marwah said that following receipt of an information concerning manufacturing of specious drugs, drugs Inspectors were directed to regularly monitor the unlawful activities of M/s Aclime Formulations for the past one week.
After the confirmation concerning contravention of Drugs and Cosmetics Act, Drugs Inspector Lovely Thakur informed State Drugs Controller who constituted a team consisting of drugs Inspectors namely Anoop Sharma, Lovely Thakur, Lalit Kumar, Suresh Kumar, Rajat Kumar and Akshay.
Marwah said that the team members along with Police and witnesses raided the premises of M/s Aclime Formulations in village Thana at Baddi in the absence of manufacturing unit’s owner Griraj Tomar who did not turn up to join the investigations despite repeated requests.
Since the occupier despite informing did not turn up for joining the investigation, the search conducted in the presence of workers in the premises, witnesses and the police personals.
Further, it was found during the search operations that the firm in question was only holding Food License issued by the FSSAI and not any Drugs Manufacturing License.
During the search operations, the officials recovered 301 tablets of Telma-H Tab (Talmisartan-40mg and Hydrochlorothiazide 12.5mg) of Glenmark Pharma , Rubber Stereos used to print Batch Numbers, expiry date and other details on tablet strips of Telma-H Tab of Glenmark Pharma (28 number Printed Foil used for packing of Telma-H Tablets of Glenmark Pharma (340gm.), empty strips and scrap generated during packing of Telma-H Tablets of Glenmark Pharma (34.02 kg.)’ Machine Change Parts used for packing of Telma-H Tablets of Glenmark Pharma (2) while two samples of Telma-H Tablets have also been lifted during the seizure of the above mentioned from the recovered drugs, printed packing materials, Rubber Stereos and Scrap that were seized from the premises.
He said that since, it was not possible to seize all the machinery and equipment used for manufacturing the spurious drugs, the premises were sealed in the presence of workers, witnesses and police officials.
Further investigation is being carried out and custody orders were being taken for seized drugs and other material and sealing of the premises form the court of law.
A Case of manufacturing for sale of spurious drugs, manufacturing drugs without license has registered under section 18(c), Section 18(a)(i) read with 17B, 18(a)(vi) etc. against offenders under Drugs and Cosmetics Act.
