Divisional Commissioners appointed as Accessibility Observers
Chief Electoral officer (CEO) Maneesh Garg stated that the Election Commission of India (ECI) is making all-out efforts to ensure inclusive elections, so that No Voter is Left Behind. He said that effective steps are being taken by the State Election Department in keeping with the spirit of UTSAV to ensure the participation of special category voters like persons with disabilities (PwDs), elderly voters. He said that in this regard, the Commission has appointed Divisional Commissioners of Kangra, Shimla and Mandi as Accessibility Observers for ensuing Assembly Elections.
Sh. Garg said that Observers would oversee the efficient and effective implementation of all the instructions issued by ECI in making the electoral process accessible for special category voters and ensure availability of Assured Minimum Facilities (AMFs) at the polling stations throughout the State. The Observers will visit a minimum 10 polling booths covering at least three Assembly Constituencies of each district of their respective division and send a report to the Commission through the CEO.
