District Magistrate inspects landslide incident near old bus stand Gurdwara in Shimla
Traffic Restored Promptly After Disruption
A landslide triggered by heavy rainfall near the under-construction parking area on Circular Road, close to Deen Dayal Upadhyay (Ripan) Hospital, prompted District Magistrate Anupam Kashyap and senior officials to inspect the site at 9:45 PM.
Kashyap confirmed that there were no casualties in the landslide incident. The district administration swiftly restored disrupted traffic to a single lane and covered the affected area with tarpaulin to mitigate further rain damage. Additionally, the electricity supply to a nearby power pole was shut off as a precaution to prevent any potential hazards.
The District Magistrate stated that the Superintending Engineer of the Public Works Department has been instructed to begin relief work early in the morning to minimize inconvenience for city residents. He assured the public that traffic flow would remain smooth in the affected area. Furthermore, officials from the Water Resources Department have been directed to secure a water supply pipe near the incident site.
Kashyap urged residents to stay vigilant during the monsoon season and promptly report any incidents to the administration.
During the inspection, Additional District Magistrate (Law and Order) Ajit Bharadwaj, Additional District Magistrate (Protocol) Jyoti Rana, Sub-Divisional Magistrate Urban Shimla Bhanu Gupta, and other officials, along with Gurudwara representatives and local residents, were present to support the administration.
