DGP constitutes SIT to probe cement or petrol pump scams
Director General of Police Sanjay Kundu has constituted an SIT to investigate two scams in the district. A special investigation team of four police SIT officers has been constituted under the chairmanship of district SP Monika Bhutungru to investigate the scam of sale of cement worth Rs 55 lakh from the godowns of Food Supply Corporation in Sunni district. A case under sections 409 and 420 of the Indian Penal Code was registered on April 1 at the Sunni Police Station in connection with this cement scam. According to the FIR, the regional manager of the corporation had accused the seller of the godown that he sold more cement from 2016 to 2020 while depositing less money in the exchequer. On the graveness of the matter, Director General of Police Sanjay Kundu constituted an SIT. SP Crime Virendra Walia, ASP Cyber Crime Narveer Rathore and DSP City Mangat Ram have been made members in the SIT. Kundu has said in his order that the SIT will conduct a professional and impartial investigation into the matter and will inform the police headquarters from time to time. Apart from this, it would also investigate financial irregularities and if any kind of fraud is found, then the bank account of the accused would be freezed and the process of confiscation of the property would be done. This SIT would also investigate the case of fraud of one crore 30 lakh rupees at HIMFED’s Theog petrol pump in Theog. In this case, an FIR was registered on April 21 on the complaint of Yashwant Verma, Shimla in-charge of HIMFED under sections 409 and 120. In this case, the accused was accused of embezzlement of Rs 1 crore 30 lakh. In this case also, if the accused is found guilty in the investigation and orders have been given to attach his property and freezed the bank accounts.
