Deputy commissioner Shimla among victims of cyber crime
The cyber crime growing exponentially in the state of Himachal Pradesh as now fraudesters are starting imporsonation of Chief minister, Ministers and Deputy Commissioner to dupe the gullible victims. In a press release issued here today Deputy Commissioner Shimla Aditya Negi informed that people should need to be extra vigilant to save them from the dubious practice as some criminals bare using his picture on the fake whatsapp group ID to extortion of money by imporsonation of him. He said that he wants to caution the people to not fall in trap of such demands or transaction of money as a mobile number (9135135244) has been put on the fake WhatsApp account as my(his) photo profile photo, through which money is being demanded from the people.
Deputy commissioner said that this mobile number doesn’t belong to him and it is fake account. ” If money is demanded from any person through this WhatsApp account, then he should file his report in the nearest police station or cyber cell.
Recently number of media persons are being targetted in similar Modus operandi as whatsapps app message and other Soical media platforms on behalf of Chief minister Jai Ram Thakur. The state cyber cell is constituted to probe such crime however no major breakthrough was achieved to resolved the increasing trend as the number of victims are coming fore to get registered such cases. The cyber cells couldn’t able to probe such increasing cases as the criminal target people frome offshore.
