Delegation of Chamian-Malyana Panchayat met the Chief Engineer Public Works Department

Under the chairmanship of Dr. Kuldeep Singh Tanwar, State President of Himachal Kisan Sabha, a delegation of Chamiyana and Malyana panchayats adjoining Shimla city met Chief Engineer Public Works Department E. Ajay Gupta and Chief Engineer (Project) E. Archana Thakur and gave them a memorandum and problem. demanded an immediate solution.

Chief Engineer E. Ajay Gupta and Chief Engineer (Project) E. Archana Thakur assured to make all possible efforts to solve the problem. After the meeting, Chief Engineer (National Highway) E. Pawan Sharma along with the SDO visited the place where the road and water sources have been damaged due to the rains.

Dr. Kuldeep Singh Tanwar said that in the recent rains, a large amount of debris and garbage from the drains coming out of the Municipal Corporation area had come to the Gram Panchayat Chamiyana area, due to which the village’s fields, drinking water sources, came for irrigation. There was heavy damage to the water. He said that on the national highway, the water of Dhingu Bawdi drain on one side and road water from Bhattakufar on the other side comes in the drain of Hillgrove and further gets blocked with an under-construction culvert on Shurala-Kateyan road. When the water leaves from there with full impulse, it does a lot of damage going forward.

Dr. Tanwar said that our area is a vegetable growing area and the season is at peak at this time but people are compelled to carry their vegetables on their backs due to bad road conditions. Irrigation is required for the same vegetable, but due to forelane, the Kuhal has already got spoiled. The water pipes laid by the villagers with their own money have also got buried under the debris and the water source has also got damaged.

He told that this problem is not only of this time but every year in the same way, soil and garbage is being washed away and damages the rural area.

He said that the work of erecting culverts on the way from Dhalli-Shoghi bypass to Katian, where the villages of two panchayats Chamiyana and Malyana come, is going on at a very slow pace. Due to this also the road gets blocked day by day and there is a problem in getting the vegetable carts.

Dr. Tanwar said that many departments are involved in this. While the area above the Dhali-Shoghi bypass comes under the municipal corporation, the responsibility of maintaining the bypass rests with the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI). The area below this is in the Panchayat and the work of four lane is going on below that. But due to lack of mutual coordination, everyone is avoiding talk on each other and the solution of the problem is not being found. Due to which the villagers are being affected.

Dr. Tanwar said that it is difficult for the general public to visit every department. Therefore it should be resolved at the level of administration and government.

He has also appealed to the Chief Minister that as Public Works Minister, he should give permanent solution to the problem so that people do not face any problem in future.

He said that he would also meet the Secretary, Public Works Department regarding this issue and if possible, he would also apprise the Chief Minister.

Dr. Tanwar said that if the problem is not resolved, then the Kisan Sabha along with the villagers will not hesitate to block the wheel on the National Highway.
