Death toll in hooch case in Mandi increased to seven
Death toll in hooch case occurred at Salapar area under Sundarnagar sub-division of Mandi districtin Himachal Pradesh on Tuesday, increased to seven as two seriously sick patients sccumbbed in Medical College Nerchowk at Sundernagar on Thursday, senior police officer confirmed.
SP Mandi Ms. Shalini Agnihotri said that two more patients died this morning who were under treatment at Shri Lalbhadur Shastri Medical College Nerchowk in Mandi district.
She said that out of nine people who consumed spourious liquor on Tuesday fell ill and seven of them they declared dead and two sick were being treated at Civil Hospital Sundernagar.
She said that 55 yrs old Sita Ram belonged to Dhawal area of Sundernagar died at SLBSMC Nerchowk at 0200 hrs on Thursday. 42 yrs old patients belonged to Bhalyani village of Salapar also died during treatment at Nerchowk medical College this morning.
Two more people who consumed spurious liquor identified as Jeet Ram of Dhawal and Neeraj Kumar of Salapar were also admitted in the hospital this morning.
As it has been stated earlier that five persons died on Wednesday in the hooch case. Others deceased were identified Chet Ram(47) a labourer), Sudesh Kumar(49), Lal Singh (55) a private driver . Kala Ram (52) a pvt driver and Rajneesh Kumar (40) welding worker .
Himachal Pradesh police arrested five persons in connection with death of seven on Wednesday.
Police booked unknown persons under section 304 , 308 & 120 B IPC has been registered in Police Station Sundernagar on today.
The preliminary investigation being done by the Sundernagar police found that deceased had consumed Santra Brand Desi Liquor ( Manufactured by VRV Foods Limited , Sansarpur Terrace , Kangra and 999 Power Star Fine Whiskey ( Empire Alcobrev , Industrial Area , Chandigarh.
A SIT comprising DIG OF Central Range Mr Madhu Sudan, SP
Kangra Kushal Chand Sharma, SP Mandi Smt. Shalini Agnihotri, and SP Crime Virender Kalia, has been constituted to probe the incident.
