Death penalty: HC hears yug murder case 

Himachal Pradesh High court today heard the criminal appeal filed by three convict who are awarded death penalty in yug murder case in 2018 . Division bench of justice Ajay Mohan Goel and justice Sandeep Sharma

heard for the matter for time and adjourned hearing for tomorrow. The defense counsel prayed to list  on 15th December , 2022. Court directed the Registry to ensure that photo copies of the statements of the prosecution witnesses recorded in vernacular are made available to the learned counsel representing all the parties . A set thereof be also made available for the perusal of the Court . Court said that registery would supply copy by tomorrow and also listed the hearing on 17th November , 2022 .  Three convict were found guilty by the Special Judge Shimla on June 2018 who are awarded death penalty for the crime  Four year  boy was abducted from the busy Ram Bazar area in Shimla on June 14 , 2014 and killed after seven days , even before a ransom call was made . His remains were recovered from a Shimla Municipal Corporation water tank in Kelston area on August 21 , 2016 , after the probe was handed over to the CID . The prosecution said Yug was tortured , starved and forcibly served liquor before being thrown alive into a water tank . A rock was tied to him when he was thrown into the tank . Yug’s killing had sent shockwaves across the city and residents took out processions and candlelight marches to express rage . A criminal case was registered on June 16 , while a letter seeking a ransom of ₹ 3.6 crore was received on June 27 . Three more ransom letters were received subsequently . On January 29 , 2016 , some municipal corporation employees found his skeleton while cleaning the tank after a jaundice outbreak in the city .
