Daily use items to be made available at fair price shops in Himachal

Providing quality nutritious food items to the people is the top priority of the government, which would not be compromised. This was stated by the Food, Civil Supplies, and Consumer Affairs Minister Rajinder Garg while presiding over the meeting of the Board of Directors of Civil Supplies Corporation here today.

During the meeting, he also directed the officers to collect samples from time to time and send them for the quality check so that the quality could be maintained. He took stock of the availability of food items and directed officers to provide rations to the consumers in time.

Rajindra Garg directed the officers of the Corporation to fix the appropriate excise rates as well as pay special attention to increase the business of the Corporation so that the Corporation can become a profit-making organization. He said that efforts should also be made to open shops of civil supplies in more and more hospital premises of the state.

It was decided that the consumer goods of daily use like tea, shampoo, hair oil, soap, toothpaste, etc. would be made available by the Civil Supplies Corporation at all fair price shops and rates would be less than the market rates. This would increase the income of the Corporation as well.

In addition, Tally software would be installed in all the godowns and offices of Civil Supplies Corporation in coordination with ICICI Bank to introduce an automated system of stocks receipt, accounting, and integrated payments.

Managing Director Civil Supplies Corporation Lalit Jain made a presentation related to the progress of the works of the Corporation and provided information about various new initiatives being taken by the State Civil Supplies Corporation to increase its income.

Secretary Food, Civil Supplies, and Consumer Affairs C Palrasu, Director Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department K.C. Chaman, and a non-official member of the Board of Directors Veena Thakur were also present in the meeting.
