CS directs DCs to deal with draught like conditions in the winters
The state capital and many places are currently facing shortage of water, Chief Secretary Parbodh Saxena today hold a high-level meeting to deal with drought like situation and lack of snowfall and rain in the winter season. State Diaster Management authority spokesperson and Secretary Diaster Management Sudesh Mokta said that CS hold a meeting to deal with the possible drought situation in the future due to less snowfall and less rainfall in the state. He said that concerned Deputy Commissioner have been asked zo provide information about the current drought like situation. The Jalshakti Vibhag, Agriculture and Horticulture Department aprised CS about the damage caused by the drought and affected drinking water schemes. CS told by the DCs and department HOD to hold routine meeting about the situation. Mr Mokta said that during the meeting Department of Jalshakti informed that so far situation is normal in the state , but if this situation continues for the next 10-15 days, it may adversely affect the agriculture, horticulture and drinking water schemes. The Forest Department was asked to be prepared to deal with possible incidents of arson of forest fire due to drought. Jal Shakti Department was instructed to run the drinking water schemes smoothly and to revive the traditional drinking water schemes, they were asked to clean them so that any possible disease could be avoided. The District Magistrates and Animal Husbandry Department were instructed to ensure availability of proper fodder and water for the animals. The Chief Secretary also asked all the department heads to maintain coordination with the Disaster Management Department on the situation so that necessary action can be taken in time for any emergency situation. All the DCs also gave directions to organize district level coordination meeting in this direction. Apart from this, the Chief Secretary also urged the people of the state to stop misuse or wastage of drinking water.
