CPM supports Junior Office Assistant Protest, Demands Immediate Exam Result Declaration
The Communist Party of India (Marxist) extends its support to the protest by the Junior Office Assistant (817) candidates outside the Service Selection Board in Hamirpur. On July 26, a delegation from the CPM, led by Dr. Kashmir Singh Thakur, met with the protesters and expressed solidarity. Notably, all formalities have been completed for these candidates, and despite the Supreme Court ruling in their favor, the exam results have yet to be announced. The Service Selection Board’s unnecessary delays are a grave injustice to these young candidates. Previously, in February, they protested outside the Shimla Assembly but suspended their agitation following assurances from the government. However, the government has not fulfilled its promises.
The CPM demands immediate acceptance of the candidates’ demands and the prompt announcement of the exam results. Dr. Kashmir Singh Thakur, a member of the CPM state secretariat, stated that the Hamirpur Service Selection Board has become a hub of corruption. During the previous BJP government, several exam papers were leaked, and the current Congress government has only taken action against minor offenders, leaving the major culprits untouched. He accused the government of intentionally not taking strict action in the police recruitment paper leak case, undermining their promises to combat corruption.
Dr. Thakur emphasized that the recent paper leak incidents have caused significant disappointment among the youth, and the government must take stringent actions in such cases. He urged for independent and fair conduct of the exams with swift result declarations to restore the trust of the youth. Failure to do so could lead to widespread distrust among the youth, resulting in various social issues for which the government would be responsible. Additionally, the CPM demands that the Service Selection Board office be relocated from Pacca Bharo Jungle to the rear side of Hamir Bhawan, near the Hamirpur District Commissioner’s office.
