Cow lifting machines to be made available in Sub Divisional Veterinary Institutions: Virender Kanwar
Rural Development, Panchayati Raj, Animal Husbandry and Fisheries Minister Virender Kanwar presided over the 28th meeting of Livestock and Poultry Development Board here today.
On the occasion, the Animal Husbandry Minister said that an additional grant of Rs. 125 would be provided in Himachal Pradesh under the Centrally Sponsored Scheme on sex sorted semen straws. Under the scheme, semen straw will be made available to the cattle owners at the rate of Rs.125. An estimated grant of Rs. 168 lakh will be made available under this scheme.
He said that Cow Lifting machines would be made available for the treatment of sick animals in all the sub-divisional veterinary institutions of the state. He said that the department would organise field camps for management and treatment of infertility in cattle across the state. Apart from this, such camps will also be organized in all the Gausadans of the state.
Virender Kanwar said that a hatchery would be set up at Chauntara in district Mandi at a cost of Rs.216.79 lakh, in which the parent stock of broiler and Kadaknath birds would be kept in 75:25 ratios. This hatchery will be registered as a society. He said that a livestock farm would be set up at Bhagthan in Sirmaur district at a cost of Rs 464 lakh for the protection of pahari cows.
Secretary Animal Husbandry Ajay Sharma, Director Animal Husbandry Department Pradeep Sharma, official and non-official members of the board attended the meeting.
