Addressing a meeting of Shimla Parliamentary Constituency MLAs, former MLAs, leaders who are Assembly candidates from this Parliamentary Constituency, Shimla Municipal Corporation Mayor, Deputy Mayor, President and Vice President of Zilla Parishad Shimla at Rajiv Bhawan, State Congress Headquarters. Election in-charge Education Minister Rohit Thakur said that to ensure the party’s victory in the Shimla parliamentary constituency, all the party leaders will have to campaign with unity. He said that with the announcement of the party candidate, all the leaders will have to take an aggressive stance against the BJP and contest the elections. He said that there were three late Chief Ministers of the Congress Party from the Shimla parliamentary constituency. The first Chief Minister of the state, Dr. Yashwant Singh Parmar was from Pachhad, while Thakur Ramlal Jubbal was from Kotkhai and Virbhadra Singh was from Rohru along with Shimla Rural and Arki. He said that Shimla parliamentary constituency has been a strong fort of Congress since the beginning.
Rohit Thakur said that unfortunately, the party did not have success in the Shimla parliamentary constituency in the last Lok Sabha elections, whereas even today Congress has MLAs in 13 out of 17 circles of this area, Congress is in a strong position in the remaining 4 circles also. He said that this time everyone will have to work in unity for the party’s victory in the Shimla parliamentary constituency.
Senior Congress leader Health Minister Dhaniram Shandil said during this time that all the Congress leaders should remember the achievements of the state government in the last 15 months, in which restoration of the old pension of the employees has been the main priority and along with this, the guarantee of giving Rs 1500 to women has been fulfilled. But it will have to be publicized.
All the leaders present in the meeting were asked to highlight the repressive policies and decisions of the BJP as well as the anti-people activities among the public. They said that as soon as the party candidate is declared, all the Congress Jana Party workers will stand in the election field.
