Congress records landslide victory in Solan district
Leveling the hopes of ruling BJP to the ground, the congress candidates recorded landslide victory on four out of five constituencies in Solan district, on Thursday.
District Election Officer and Deputy Commissioner Solan Kritika Kulhari said that Indian National Congress candidate Sanjay Awasthi from Arki Constituency, Independent candidate fNalagarh Constituency K.L. Thakur, Doon constituency Indian National Congress candidate Ram Kumar, Solan (Scheduled Caste) constituency Indian National Congress candidate Dr. Col. Dhaniram Shandil and Vinod Sultanpuri, Indian National Congress candidate from Kasauli (Scheduled Caste) assembly constituency were declared elected.
In Arki assembly constituency, out of total 73870 votes of EVM and postal ballot, Indian National Congress’s Sanjay Awasthi got 30897, independent candidate Rajendra got 26075 votes, BJP’s Govind Ram got 13444, Rashtriya Devbhoomi Party’s Jaidev Singh got 1747 votes, Aam Aadmi Party’s Jeet Ram 316, Bahujan Samaj Party’s Kamlesh 306, Independent candidate Sanjay Kumar got 285 and NOTA got 466 votes. In Arki assembly constituency, 334 postal ballot papers were rejected. Here, Sanjay Awasthi of Indian National Congress was declared victorious by 4822 votes.
Out of total 75258 votes of EVM and postal ballot in Nalagarh assembly segment, BJP rebel who contested as an independent candidate K.L. Thakur polled 33427 votes, Indian National Congress’s Hardeep Singh Bawa got 20163 votes, BJP’s Lakhwinder Singh Rana secured 17273, Rashtriya Devbhoomi Party’s Jagdish Chand got 1146, Aam Aadmi Party’s Dharampal polled 1108, Bahujan Samaj Party’s Paras Bains got 555 Independent candidate Jagpal Singh Rana got 534 votes, Swabhiman Party’s Kishori Lal got 305 and NOTA got 590 votes. In Nalagarh assembly constituency, 157 postal ballot papers were rejected. Here, independent candidate KL Thakur was declared elected by 13,264 votes.
In Doon constituencies, out of total 61906 votes of E.V.M and postal ballots, Indian National Congress’s Ram Kumar polled 32038, BJP’s Paramjit Singh Pammi got 25227 votes, Independent candidate Desh Raj Chauhan got 1895, Rashtriya Devbhoomi Party’s Balwant Singh got 1425 votes, Aam Aadmi Party’s Swaran Singh Saini got 659, Bahujan Samaj Party’s Nagendra Chand got 276 and NOTA got 224 votes. In Doon assembly constituency, 162 postal ballots were rejected. Here too, Indian National Congress candidate Ram Kumar was declared victorious by 6811 votes.
In Solan (Scheduled Caste) assembly constituency, out of total 58675 votes cast by EVM and postal ballot, Indian National Congress’s Dhani Ram Shandil polled 30089, BJP’s Rajesh Kashyap secured 26231 votes, Aam Aadmi Party’s Anju 1108, Rajendra of Bahujan Samaj Party got 323 and NOTA got 634 votes. In Solan assembly constituency, 290 postal ballot papers were rejected. Here Dhani Ram Shandil of Indian National Congress was declared victorious by 3858 votes. In Kasauli (Scheduled Caste) assembly constituency, out of total 54341 votes of EVM and postal ballot, Indian National Congress’s Vinod Sultanpuri secured 28200 votes, BJP’s Dr. Rajeev Saizal who was health minister in BJP government polled 21432 votes, Aam Aadmi Party’s Harmail Singh got 1809, Rashtriya Devbhoomi Party’s Rajeev Kumar Kondal got 1677, Independent candidate Om Prakash got 331, Himachal Jankranti Party’s Rajendra got 211, Bahujan Samaj Party’s Ram Ratna got 117 And NOTA got 348 votes. In Kasauli assembly constituency, 216 postal ballots were rejected. Here, Vinod Sultanpuri of Indian National Congress was declared victorious by 6768 votes.
