Congress organizes a meeting on Nehru on his death anniversary
On the death anniversary of India’s first Prime Minister Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru, a meeting was organized at Himachal Pradesh Congress Office, Rajeev Bhavan, Shimla and tributes were paid to Pt. Nehru by garlanding his portrait. A large number of Congressmen participated on this occasion.
Highlighting the life of Pandit Nehru, the speakers present on the occasion said that Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru was a central personality in Indian politics before and after independence. Under the tutelage of Mahatma Gandhi, he emerged as the supreme leader of the Indian independence movement and ruled India from its inception as an independent nation in 1947 until his death in 1964.
As the first Prime Minister of independent India, he set out to realize the dream of India, after which he started an ambitious plan of economic, social and political reforms. Under Nehru’s leadership, the Congress continued to win elections, showing dominance in national and state-level elections.
Jawaharlal Nehru is also known as Chacha Nehru. He did many such works due to which he has become immortal forever. He also played a huge role in the Indian independence movement.
Jawaharlal Nehru wisely faced every challenge that emerged in the way of reorganization of India. Jawaharlal Nehru played an important role in the making of modern India. He set up the Planning Commission, encouraged the development of science and technology, and launched three consecutive five-year plans. Due to his policies, a new era of agriculture and industry started in the country. Nehru played a major role in the development of India’s foreign policy. Jawaharlal Nehru died on 27 May 1964.
