Congress government putting burden of by-elections: Satpal
BJP’s former state president and MLA Satpal Satti questioned the Congress government and its leaders and said that if the Congress leaders’ intentions were clear and the government had the strength, it would have accepted the resignation of the 3 independent MLAs in time.
On the contrary, the Congress government kept the resignations hanging as part of a political conspiracy and accepted the resignations of independents just before the Lok Sabha elections were over. It appears that the speaker of the assembly is acting like a puppet of the government.
He said that if the resignation of three independent MLAs had been accepted earlier, then the government would not have to bear the financial burden of elections. Now the Congress leaders can make whatever statements they want but the truth is that the elections are next month and the government is bound to bear the cost of the elections.
Congress is on a weak wicket on the election pitch, the government is on the back foot after losing 61 assembly constituencies in the Lok Sabha elections. The head of the government and his allies also know this.
Satti said that if the Congress party leaders see the electoral lead of BJP in the Lok Sabha, they will know who will win the by-elections. In Himachal Pradesh, BJP has scored a hat-trick of victory in the Lok Sabha elections. BJP has won all the four Lok Sabha seats. Kangana Ranaut from hot seat Mandi, Anurag Thakur from Hamirpur, Dr. Rajiv Bhardwaj from Kangra and Suresh Kashyap from Shimla have won. In the 2014 and 2019 Lok Sabha elections also, BJP had won all the four seats.
