Cong won seven seats in Shimla district, Counting of votes completed peacefully in Shimla: DC
Congress party made big came back in its old bastion in Shimla district as it won seven seat out of eight in the district ruling BJP wrestled three seats compared to 2017 election as it could retained only Chopal seat and lost in Jubbal Kotkhai and Shimla assembly seats. Among the promineter loser are sitting minister Suresh Bhardwaj. In n Assembly Constituency 60-Chaupal, Balbir Singh Verma of BJP defeated Rajneesh Kimta of Congress by 5033 votes. Balbir Verma got 25,873, Rajneesh Kimta 20,840, Dr Subhash Chand Manglet 13,706, Independent Ashok Kumar 463, AAP’s Uday Singta 413, BSP’s Bhagat Lal 382 while 550 voters pressed the NOTA button.
Deputy Commissioner Aditya Negi said that counting of votes ended peacefully. He said that Congress candidate Kuldeep Singh Rathore defeated BJP candidate Ajay Shyam by 5269 votes in Assembly Constituency 61-Theog. Kuldeep Singh Rathore got 19,447 votes, Ajay Shyam 14,178, Independent Indu Verma 13,848, Independent Vijay Pal Khachi 4576, Independent Amit Mehta 581, AAP’s Attar Singh Chandel 487 and BSP’s Jia Lal 304 votes while 349 votes were polled to NOTA. District Election Officer said that Congress candidate Anirudh Singh defeated BJP candidate Suresh Bhardwaj by 8655 votes in 62-Kasumpti assembly constituency. Here Congress candidate Anirudh Singh got 25,759, Suresh Bhardwaj got 17,104, Kuldeep Singh Tanwar of CPIM got 2670, AAP’s Dr. Rajesh Channa got 307 votes, Ram Prakash of Rashtriya Dev Bhoomi Party got 136 and Kameshwar of BSP got 159 votes while 335 votes went to NOTA. He said that Harish Janartha of Congress defeated Sanjay Sood of BJP by 3037 votes in Assembly Constituency 63-Shimla Urban. In Shimla Urban, Harish Janartha has total 15,803, BJP’s Sanjay Sood 12,766, CPIM’s Tikendra Singh Panwar 1400, AAP’s Chaman Rakesh 328, Independent Abhishek Barowalia 120, Rashtriya Dev Bhoomi Party’s Kalyan Singh 78, BSP’s Rajesh Kumar Gill got 46 votes while NOTA got 237 votes. The District Election Officer said that in Assembly Constituency 64-Shimla Rural, Congress candidate Vikramaditya Singh defeated BJP’s Ravi Kumar Mehta by 13,860 votes. Vikramaditya Singh got a total of 35,269 while Ravi Kumar Mehta got 21,409, Rashtriya Dev Bhoomi Party’s Purna Dutt got 915, AAP’s Prem Kumar got 244, BSP’s Balwinder Kumar Singh got 271, independent candidate Praveen Kumar got 196 votes while NOTA got 293 votes. In Assembly Constituency 65-Jubbal Kotkhai, Congress candidate Rohit Thakur defeated his nearest rival BJP candidate Chetan Singh Bragta by 5069 votes. Congress candidate Rohit Thakur got total 31,393 votes while Chetan Singh Bragta got 26324 votes, CPIM’s Vishal Shankta 1256, BSP’s Rampal 239, Aam Aadmi Party’s Shrikant Chauhan 163 and Independent Suman Kadam got 65 votes while 187 people pressed NOTA. In 66-Rampur Assembly constituency, Congress candidate Nand Lal defeated BJP’s Kaul Singh by 567 votes. Nandlal got a total of 28,397 votes, BJP’s Kaul Singh 27,830, AAP’s Uday Singh 706, BSP’s Desraj 444 and Independent Pritam Dev 117 while 377 votes went to NOTA. Congress candidate Mohan Lal Bragta defeated his nearest rival Shashi Bala of BJP by 19,339 votes from 67-Rohru assembly constituency.
