Cong seeks actions against Independent MLAs to join BJP
Congress state unit sought actions against two Independent legislators of Himachal Pradesh Vidhan Sabha for violating anti defection law after joining ruling BJP before the state assembly poll. Congress state spokesperson Devendra Bushhari has termed the joining of the two independent MLAs as a violation of the anti-defection law in a press release issued here today. He said that
independent MLA Prakash Rana fro Jogendranagar assembly and Hoshiyar Singh from Dehra joined BJP yesterday despite having elected as Independent MLAs. He demanded Himachal Pradesh Assembly Speaker Vipin Singh Parmar to cancel the membership of these MLAs as they joined rulling party much ahead of formally taking party membership . The Congress also warned that if action is not taken against these two MLAs, the party would take further action after taking legal opinion. He said that if action did not taken by speaker immediately party and also take action against them before the Election Commission. He said that Prakash Rana and Hoshiyar Singh have bypassed Articles 102(2), 191(2) of Article 102(2) of the Constitution of India and Section 2 and 3 of the Anti-Defection Act by joining the BJP. He said that Article 2, 3 clearly states that if a person wins an election against a candidate of a political party, then that elected MLA cannot take membership of any political party. To do so before the election, one has to resign from the membership of the Legislative Assembly. Only then could a party be joined. He said that after all, what does the BJP want to show by doing this, while both the MLAs have been with the BJP since the beginning. This Poltical development not only warmed the state politics but gave a jolt to supporters of former chief minister prem kumar Dhumal as Rana was taken in the party against the party stalwart Gulab Singh a former BJP Minister from Jogindernagar and Mr Hoshiyar Singh against the wishes of former minister Ravinder Singh Ravi both the party leader have been defeated by the Independent MLAs in last Vidhan sabha elections. However two took BJP membership yesterday, in the presence of CM Jai Ram Thakur. A faction of the BJP is believing that both the independent MLAs have been entered in the BJP for the purpose of ending the political career of former Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal’s relative Gulab Singh Thakur(father in law of Anurag Thakur) and former minister Ravinder Singh Ravi. Bushehari Devendra Bushehari said that the BJP government has now made up its mind to take them out of power whatever they want. He said that the people would give a befitting reply to the rising inflation, corruption, unemployment, deteriorating law and order, against the promises made to the employees, pensioners, gardeners and farmers in the upcoming assembly elections.
