Cong performed better in Apple growing area, BJP retain Jai Ram Thakur home

Ruling BJP couldn’t changed the custom of shuffling of govt after every five years. The Congress retained its old bastion Shimla and Solan district beside performing well in Hamirpur, Kangra and Bilaspur district. As the counting of votes is about to complete in all 68 of Assembly Constituency the final tally of Congress is going to touch 39 seats which wrestled about 16 more seats from BJP and one from CPI(M). Congrress party performed well in apple growing area including Lahaul-Spiti and Kinnaur district. It won four seats 8n Solan and seven seat in Shimla district. BJP retained Chopal Assembly seat in Shimla district. In Sirmaur district BJP retained Pachhad, Ponta Assembly seat. In Kangra, Hamirpur, Una, Bilaspur, Kullu and Chamba Congrress performed well as it defeated seven rulling Minister. Congress party which have five to six rebel performed well in hilly area. BJP candidates couldn’t manage rebel which forced its candidate to miserable third position. Congrress have promised to restore old pension scheme and provide monthly assistance to house wife tune to Rs 1500 to maintain their kitchen affected by skyrocketing inflation. Congress victory is also attributed due to incumbency againsit Jai Ram Thakur and centre Goverment beside party couldn’t manage bikkering due to faulty distribution of tickets and massive rebillion. BJP debacle also attributed due to not completing its previous Election promise to award four time compensation to four lane and mega projects affected people. 

 Chief minister Jai Ram Thakur who was declared chief minister by ruling BJP couldn’t change custom as party have given salogan of ‘Changing custom. In Mandi out of 13 Assembly seats BJP won or leading in 12 seats.

Current trends as per the ECI website, display around 39 to 40 seats for the old front. The saffron on the other hand may manage to get 26-27 seats in this contest.

Amongst district wise Congress seems likely to be leading in 8 districts, whereas BJP seems to have taken the lead in 3 districts. One district Kullu seems even amongst both parties.

However that the final results are yet to be declared but some very interesting fights are being noted in this contest.  In Bhoranj constituency of Hamirpur, Anil Dhiman (BJP) scored 23985 votes versus Sushil Kumar (INC) who secured 23917 votes after the last round of counting. Naina Devi in Bilaspur noted senior Congress leader and CM post aspirant Ramlal Thakur trailing at 28733 votes against his rival Randhir Sharma who got 28878 votes, after the last round.

Sujanpur remained a close fight with Rajinder Rana of Congress barely leading at 26834 versus his BJP opponent Ranjit Singh Rana at 26718 votes.  Similar was the contest in Renuka Ji where Congress candidate Vinay Kumar is leading with 27846 votes against rival BJP candidate Narain Singh at 27126.

Another contest is being noted in Rampur of Shimla district. here Congress got 27458 votes versus BJP 27315 after last round of counting. Yet another tight contest is Shillai where Harshvardhan Chan of Congress is leading at 31430 votes versus BJP Baldev Singh at 31019 votes.

A nail biting contest remained Drang. Here senior Congress candidate Kaul Singh is losing with 35843 votes versus his own prodigy and rival Puran Chand (BJP) at 34856 votes. The contest at the former Minister Mahinder Singh’s constituency also remained exciting, as here his son scored 26814 votes versus Congress party Chander Shekhar which are leading with 29621 votes.

Another likely upset could be at Nahan wherein Senior BJP leader Rajeev Bindal secured 33057 votes versus rival Congress Ajay Solanki getting 34545 votes.

Bilaspur too, must be giving shivers to both parties as till the round 10(Second last), BJP was barely leading at 30017 versus Congress Bumber Thakur with 29638 votes.

Though most of the constituencies both parties were seen in a one on one contest, however both seemed to be slipping third in one constituency each. In Arki BJP is coming third and Congress on the other hand is securing third position in Sullah of Kangra. Party rebel Jagjivan Pall forced Congrres candidate Jagdish Sapehia to perform 3rd.

As per the current update, Congress is leading 39 constituencies, BJP is likely to come second with 26 and 3 independents also seem to be making way in the Vidhan Sabha.
