CM Sukhu unveils Shimla Flying Fest at Junga
Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu unveiled a three-day ‘Shimla Flying Festival’, at Junga in Kasumpti Assembly constituency on Thursday.
Addressing the enthusiasts or pilots on the occasion, He said that such events would give a flip to the derailed tourism activities due to recent rain and would attract people to ward the adventure and tourism activities.
He said that many tourist destinations of Himachal Prasdehs figures on the global tourist map and popular abroad attacked about 260 foreign pilots to participate in the event.
Chief Minister said that with the commissioning of hospitality units and transport after the recent heavy monsoon rain disaster the flip in the tourism and hospitality industry would provide an increase in the indirect employment available to the local youths.
“It is the first event of a National level after the disaster struck the state during the monsoons,” said the Chief Minister adding that Himachal was open to welcome the tourists and extend its hospitality.
He pointed out that even the Bir-Billing area of Kangra district was one of the most favorite sites for paragliding and has made its mark globally. The Bir-Billing has also remained host to the pre-paragliding World Cup competitions promoting Himachal on Global map.
The event is being jointly organized by ‘The Glide Inn’ company and the State Tourism Department. Managing Director, of Himachal Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation, Amit Kashyap welcomed the Chief Minister and said that the Corporation was taking several steps to promote tourism activities in the state. He also detailed about the measures being taken to increase the footfall of tourists in the State.
Arun Rawat, Chief Executive Officer of ‘The Glide Inn’ company, gave detailed information about the festival and said that 51 paragliders from India and abroad were participating in this four-day long event. He said that this festival will prove effective in promoting tourism in the area. He also appreciated the efforts being made by the state government under the leadership of Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu to promote tourism.
He said that his government is giving special emphasis on tourism activities so that high-end tourists make their way to the state after a recent halt in the state and
air, railway, and road transport is restored and the affected roads are being rebuilt on the war footing by the state and center.
The Chief Minister said that Himachal Pradesh is blessed by nature as it has rich natural resources from waterfalls, rivers, mountains, and glaciers which enrich the state and provide drinking and irrigation waters to a number of states in the country. The Chief Minister said that state tourism, horticulture, and hydropower generations are the backbone of the economy not for the hill people having large geographical areas but thinly populated ones. The state could accommodate more tourism activities preserving its invaluable nature and scenic beauty.
