Cloudburst triggers flooding in Rampur’s, Nogli Taklech road blocked
Late Friday night, a sudden cloudburst struck the Taklech area of Rampur, leading to severe flooding that has left the community on edge. The Nogli-Taklech road is now blocked by the deluge, and while there have been no reports of injuries or major damage, the atmosphere is tense. Local authorities have acted swiftly, issuing warnings and beginning evacuations to protect residents from potential dangers.
The cloudburst hit Nogli Khad, causing the water levels to rise dramatically and unexpectedly. This surge in water has made the Nogli-Taklech road impassable, creating a dangerous situation for anyone traveling through the area. In light of this, officials have urged people to steer clear of Nogli Khad, where the threat of further flooding looms large.
In a show of caution, several shops and homes in the bustling Nogli market have been evacuated, and families living along the ravine’s banks have been relocated to safer ground. Many residents, fearing the worst, have hurriedly gathered their belongings, uncertain of what the night might bring.
But the impacts of this disaster go beyond the immediate flooding. The lives of local residents have been thrown into further turmoil, with five panchayats now left in darkness after the power went out. To make matters worse, mobile communications are down due to damage to a nearby tower, leaving people cut off from the outside world.
With the situation rapidly evolving, SDM Rampur Nishant Tomar has been dispatched to assess the damage firsthand. Although villagers have reported severe flooding, SDM Tomar noted that an official assessment is necessary to confirm if a cloudburst was indeed the cause.
In response to the crisis, Deputy Commissioner Anupam Kashyap and Superintendent of Police Shimla have also rushed to the scene. Their presence underscores the gravity of the situation, as they work to ensure that the response is swift and effective. DC Kashyap reassured the community, stating that a team was sent out immediately after the first reports of the cloudburst reached them.
As the people of Rampur brace themselves, the community remains hopeful that the worst is over, yet prepared for whatever challenges may lie ahead.
