City Council will create bylaws, PGs to comply with security standards
Deputy Commissioner Amarjeet Singh held a meeting on Wednesday with officers from the TCP department, police, food security, tourism department, state tax and excise, and other departments to ensure compliance with all security standards and regulations in Paying Guest Facilities (PG) and private hostels operating in Hamirpur city, its surrounding areas, and Sujanpur.
During the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner emphasized that Hamirpur city is recognized as the education hub of Himachal Pradesh. According to the local city council, 33 PGs are currently operating, providing accommodation and food to children from across the state. He stressed the need for comprehensive regulations to protect children, provide a better educational environment, and monitor PG operations.
The Deputy Commissioner instructed local city council officials to prepare detailed bylaws after extensive discussions with officers and PG operators from the TCP department, police, food security, tourism, and other related departments. This bylaw should ensure adequate security arrangements and essential facilities for children in all PGs. He also mentioned that the PG registration process should involve the Police, Fire, City Council, TCP, Food Security, and all other concerned departments.
The Deputy Commissioner highlighted that District Hamirpur can set a new standard by creating bylaws for the registration and operation of PGs. He urged all concerned officers to work diligently to prepare comprehensive bylaws that include all aspects of child safety, essential facilities, and an excellent study environment.
ADM Rahul Chauhan, Assistant Commissioner Pawan Sharma, DSP, and officers from the City Council, TCP, and other departments also provided important suggestions during the meeting.
