Union government deliberately obstructing parliamentary debate to protect Adani : Pratibha
Today, on the call of the All India Congress Committee, under the leadership of State Congress President and former MP Pratibha Singh, party leaders from districts and blocks and hundreds of party workers marched to Raj Bhawan and raised strong slogans against the Central Government.
While addressing the people outside the Raj Bhavan, State Congress President Pratibha Singh accused the BJP government at the Centre of trying to save Gautam Adani and his associates facing corruption charges. She said that serious allegations of corruption, fraud and forgery have been leveled against Adani in the US court, due to which the loss of trust among domestic and international investors is worrying. This has also tarnished the reputation of the country.
Pratibha Singh said that the Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi has repeatedly demanded action against Adani in Parliament for his financial fraud, but it is regrettable that the Modi government at the Centre has not taken any action on this till date. She said that the government’s deliberate obstruction of parliamentary debate and its silence on this issue is a worrying sign of evading responsibility and accountability in democracy which can never be tolerated. She has demanded that Adani be arrested soon and a case of corruption be registered against him.
Pratibha Singh strongly criticized the central government, expressing the party’s concern over the increasing violence, firing, curfew and growing anarchy in Manipur. She said that the Center is completely ignoring Manipur. She said that people are dying every day in Manipur. The people of Manipur are living under the shadow of fear and violence. The Manipur government is also proving to be completely unsuccessful in protecting the people. The Modi government at the Center has closed its eyes on Manipur. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has not even visited Manipur till date. It is clear from this that the Prime Minister is not concerned about Manipur.
All India Congress Committee Secretary and Co-in-charge of State Affairs Chetan Chauhan said in his address that the BJP government at the Centre has become completely dictatorial today. He said that efforts are being made to weaken the Constitution. Police cases are being made against those opposing the government by misusing investigative agencies. He said that communalism is being promoted in the country, which is a matter of great concern.
Vidit Chaudhary also criticized the Modi government at the center and said that today Congress is protesting against the anti-people policies and decisions of the BJP across the country. He said that Congress will not allow injustice to happen to the country and will make people aware against it.
Mayor of Shimla Municipal Corporation Surendra Chauhan said in his address that today’s march to Raj Bhawan is against the central government. He said that the Modi government at the center is more concerned about its capitalist friends than the farmers of the country. He said that farmers are being stopped from going to Delhi with their demands. He said that democracy is being murdered in the country. He asked everyone to come forward unitedly and come forward against the anti-people policies and decisions of the central government.
State Women Congress president Zainab Chandel also slammed the central government in her address.
Senior party leaders from across the state, municipal councillors, leading organisations Seva Dal, Mahila Congress, Youth Congress, NSUI officials and a large number of party workers participated in today’s protest.
