CBI nabs New India Insurance RM & Surveyor while taking bribe
A state unit of CBI nabbed duo of New India Insurance Regional manager J K Mital and Surveyor N S Sodhi taking bribe of Rs five lakh from a private factory at Chandigarh. CBI spokesperson Nayanwaker said in a press release issued here today that CBI has today arrested an Insurance Surveyor and a Regional Manager of The New India Assurance Company, Chandigarh in a bribery of Rs. 5 lakh.
A case was registered against an Insurance Surveyor of The New India Assurance Company, Chandigarh on the allegations of demanding bribe of Rs. 12 lakh from the Complainant for getting the insurance claim tune to one Crore rupees of his factory released early and to prevent filing appeal in higher court, by his close officer (a Regional Manager of The New India Assurance Company, Chandigarh). It was further alleged that the Parwanoo based factory (Solan district) of the Complainant had caught fire in 2010.During this there was a loss of crores. Since private factory had insured with the New India Company. This matter went on in the court for some time. The court ordered that New India Company should give one crore rupees insurance to the factory. CBI laid a trap and caught the Surveyor while accepting bribe of Rs. 5 lakh from the Complainant as first installment on behalf of said Regional Manager. The said Regional Manager was also caught.
Searches are being conducted today at the premises of both accused at Chandigarh & Panchkula which have so far led to recovery of some documents related to investment and keys of lockers etc. Both the arrested accused will be produced tomorrow before the Special Judge, CBI Cases, Shimla. JK Mittal, Regional Manager of New India Insurance Company, is also hold charge of Himachal Pradesh.
