BJP, which chants double engine government, has ruined the financial condition of Himachal : Naresh Chauhan
Principal Advisor to the Chief Minister (Media) Naresh Chauhan said that the state government and the party organization are working together to expose before the people the discriminatory and double standards of BJP towards the interests of the state and its people. Especially during natural disasters, the state is suffering huge losses due to the indifferent attitude of the BJP and the Central Government.
Addressing media persons here today, he said that the Congress organization and the government are working in unity to ensure the victory of the Congress Party in the upcoming general elections. He said that Congress has been recognized as the largest national party in the country and small talk takes place within a big family. The present Congress government in Himachal is well aware of the capabilities of the party workers and they are being given due respect. He said that no person from the opposition has the right to spread rumors in party matters.
In response to a question, Shri Chouhan said that every MLA has the option to give his suggestions in writing to the Chief Minister. what’s wrong with that? Suggestions received are always welcome and will be implemented in a phased manner. Even some MLAs have written down their priorities and sent them to the Chief Minister, then why are some people creating ruckus over it. The opposition is making a fuss of the matter. Chouhan said that perhaps Leader of Opposition Shri Jai Ram Thakur is being pressurized to issue such statements and he is merely discharging his role as Leader of Opposition, which is also his responsibility. He said that criticism just for the sake of criticism will not benefit the state and its people and the public is well understanding the passive and indifferent role of BJP leaders during the disaster.
He said that under the leadership of Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu, our government is working for the welfare of the last man in the line and to make Himachal self-reliant and the most prosperous state of the country along with ample self-employment opportunities for the youth and agricultural society. Many welfare schemes have been launched with special focus on resource generation. We are reaching out to the people through ‘Sarkar Gaon Ke Dwar’, and that too without any expense, whereas during the BJP rule, crores of rupees were wasted on Jan Manch.
He said that Congress is fully prepared for the Lok Sabha elections. Fulfilling its election guarantee, the Congress government provided OPS to 1.36 lakh employees. It was the BJP that turned a blind eye to the legitimate rights of the employees and kept luring them for five years, but we did not do so. Rajiv Gandhi Self-Employment Start-up Scheme worth Rs 680 crore was launched with a view to create self-employment opportunities for the youth by fulfilling the guarantee of start-up. We presented the Green Budget so that the Himalayan flora and fauna can be further conserved. Our government started Revenue Lok Adalats to provide relief to those whose cases were pending for years in revenue courts. He said that the Congress government fulfilled three out of ten guarantees in the first year of its rule, and in such a situation what does the opposition want to know. The remaining guarantees will also be implemented in a phased manner.
Taking aim at the BJP, he said that the BJP, which chants the slogan of double engine government, has ruined the financial condition of Himachal. The previous Jai Ram government was remembered for its indiscriminate borrowing and financial mismanagement of the state. Apart from the loan of Rs 75 thousand crore, there was a liability of Rs 11 thousand crore of government employees. He asked Jai Ram Thakur ji that which special package did he bring from the Center for Himachal during his five years of rule? Why couldn’t the BJP, which spends crores of rupees in the name of investor meet, bring any industrial package for the state with its double engine? He said that after the massive devastation caused by the recent rains, the state submitted a loss report of Rs 10,000 crore to the Centre. Despite this, the hopes of the people of the state for a special financial package remained dashed and now the interim budget of the Center has also disappointed the people of the state. There was nothing in it to promote tourism or industries in Himachal. The middle class was badly affected due to no relaxation in the tax structure. In such a situation, on what basis BJP will go to the people to seek votes in the Lok Sabha elections, the BJP people of the state also know this and are only trying to confuse the people by making absurd statements.
