BJP Targets Himachal Govt, Alleges Corruption and Mismanagement
As the Congress government marked its two-year anniversary in Himachal Pradesh, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) launched a scathing attack, submitting a memorandum to Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla on Wednesday. Led by Leader of Opposition Jairam Thakur, the BJP delegation accused the Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu-led administration of rampant corruption, financial mismanagement, and fostering a climate of mafia rule. Accompanying him were state BJP President Dr. Rajiv Bindal and several party MLAs. The BJP labelled the Congress government’s two-year tenure as a “black chapter” in Himachal Pradesh’s history. The memorandum claimed that the administration’s alleged corruption and wasteful expenditures have driven the state toward economic bankruptcy. It also accused the government of supporting mafias involved in illegal activities such as mining, drugs, liquor, forest exploitation, and land deals.
The BJP alleged that the Congress government’s actions have tarnished Himachal Pradesh’s reputation on both national and global levels. It claimed the administration prioritized personal gains over public welfare, burdening the state with anti-people decisions.
Leader of Opposition Jairam Thakur urged the governor to investigate and act on these allegations, vowing that the BJP would continue to expose the government’s failures.
Congress Yet to Respond
While the Congress government has not yet commented on the accusations, the BJP’s memorandum has set the stage for heated political debates. As the opposition sharpens its attacks, the political climate in Himachal Pradesh is expected to remain charged in the coming days.
