BJP ruined education, we made reforms: Rohit Thakur
Senior Congress leader and Education Minister Rohit Thakur said in a press statement issued here today that during the tenure of the previous BJP government, education had deteriorated and Himachal Pradesh’s ranking in terms of qualitative education had reached 18th place in the country. He said that after the formation of the Congress government in Himachal Pradesh, many ambitious schemes were started in the last one and a half years, due to which there is comprehensive improvement in the field of education. He said that the Congress government is also making continuous efforts to improve vocational education so that the youth can get employment and self-employment opportunities.
Rohit Thakur said that the state government is filling more than 7000 posts of JBT, TGT, PGT and college lecturers in the education department on direct recruitment and batchwise basis so that the education of students is not hampered due to shortage of teachers. He said that keeping in view the special circumstances of the state, School Cluster Scheme has also been started for shared use of resources in schools of all levels. He said that in all the government schools of the state, education in English medium has been started from the first class from this session itself. He said that pre-nursery classes have been started in more than 6000 primary schools of the state, for which posts of nursery teachers have been created and permission has been given to fill them and the process will be completed soon.
The Congress leader said that the present Congress government is opening one Rajiv Gandhi Model Day-Boarding School in all the assembly constituencies of the state in a phased manner so that students can be given quality education within the state. He said that this school will prove to be a milestone in the future in providing quality education to the students. He said that teachers of the state are being sent on foreign tours so that they can go there and learn about the standards and methods being provided in the education sector and further improvements can be brought in the field of education here.
Rohit Thakur said that the state government has decided to develop 850 schools of the state as schools of excellence in the year 2024-25. He said that along with filling all the sanctioned posts of teachers, smart classrooms and other facilities will be started in these educational institutions.
The Education Minister said that the present state government has appropriately increased the honorarium of SMC teachers, IT teachers and computer teachers.
