BJP is telling blatant lies in the name of disaster relief: Pratibha

State Congress President and MP Pratibha Singh has described the release of Rs 633 crore by the Central Government for disaster relief of the state as just a drop in the mouth of the camel. She has accused the BJP government at the Center of discriminating against the Congress-ruled state of Himachal Pradesh on disaster relief, which will never be tolerated.

Pratibha Singh has said that a loss of more than Rs 12 thousand crore has been estimated due to heavy rains and landslides in the state. She has said that whatever amount the Central Government has released earlier to the state is the central share that all the states receive from the Center every year to deal with natural disasters.

Pratibha Singh has said that BJP leaders are unsuccessfully trying to mislead people regarding disaster relief. The negative attitude of BJP leaders towards the interests of the state is very regrettable. She said that the state government is providing all possible help to the affected people with its limited resources.

Pratibha Singh said that she had asked the Central Government in the Parliament in a question whether any special financial assistance has been provided to Himachal Pradesh affected by the natural disaster. In response, the central government has put the entire responsibility of dealing with such disasters on the state governments. He said that the Central Government has accepted that they were asked for special financial help from the State Government. After the first installment of Rs 180.40 crore received by each state under the State Disaster Relief Fund, the Central Government released an additional Rs 200 crore to the state government.

Pratibha Singh has said that the state has not received any special financial assistance from the Central Government as BJP leaders are making tall claims regarding central assistance. She said that BJP is telling blatant lies in the name of disaster relief.
