BJP is putting obstacles in Rs 1500 pension, pressure is being created from Delhi to stop it: Sukhu
Chief Minister Thakur Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu today campaigned vigorously for the Congress party in Jwali, Indora and Noorpur assembly constituencies of Kangra district. He appealed to make Congress Party candidate Anand Sharma victorious from Kangra Lok Sabha seat with huge votes and made sharp attacks on BJP.
Lashing out at the BJP, the Chief Minister said that the BJP is creating new obstacles every day to stop the pension of Rs 1500 for women. Leader of Opposition Jairam Thakur and other BJP leaders are repeatedly trying to get women’s pension stopped by the Election Commission and pressure is being put on the Election Commission from Delhi also. After opposition from Congress, the Election Commission allowed women to fill pension forms and now women are filling the forms of the scheme. He said that earlier BJP leaders used to repeatedly ask questions on women’s pension, but now they are trying their best to deprive women of their rights. He said that if BJP withdraws its protest and the Election Commission gives permission, then within 24 hours a pension of Rs 1500 will be transferred to the women’s account. Even if permission is not granted, two installments of Rs 3000 will be given to women in the month of June. He said that the present Congress government has made many efforts for the empowerment of women. Reservation for women in police has been increased to 30 percent.
Thakur Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu said that the Congress party does not work considering electoral gains. Despite the poor financial condition of the government, the Congress government has already given old pension to 1.36 lakh government employees of the state in the cabinet meeting, while the BJP leaders are working to stop Rs 9000 crore of NPS in Delhi. He said that in the previous BJP government, Jairam Thakur kept sleeping for five years and kept looting the state treasury. Whereas the present government has stopped corruption and distributed public money among the people. With this money, the Congress government increased the daily wage of MNREGA from Rs 60 to Rs 300 and made provision for free treatment facilities for elderly people above 70 years of age. The state government will bear the cost of free education for children of widows up to 27 years of age and financial assistance of Rs 3 lakh is being given to poor widows to build houses. The support price of cow milk was increased from Rs 32 to Rs 45, while the price of buffalo milk was increased from Rs 47 to Rs 55. The present state government has started the process of filling 22 thousand posts in the government sector, whereas during its five-year tenure, BJP gave only 20 thousand jobs. He said that the Congress government settled one lakh Intaqal and eight thousand Takseem cases in three months, which resolved the revenue matters pending for years and provided facilities to the people.
The Chief Minister said that this time’s election is special because the fight is between honesty and dishonest people. BJP has tried unsuccessfully for a month to topple the democratically elected government through money power. Now the public will fight the battle against the Congress government because the power of democracy is people power. He said that only the power of your vote can save democracy. He said that BJP has bought six Congress MLAs in the political market and the tainted ones have traded their honor as well as public sentiments. Today in history, even independent MLAs are staging dharna to accept resignation, because they have sold their MLA status for a briefcase full of BJP stuff. He said that if MLAs continue to be sold in the political market like this, then what will be the importance of the public vote. On June 1, the people of the state will teach a tough lesson to the politics of horse-trading and Congress candidates will be victorious on all four Lok Sabha seats as well as six assembly by-elections.
Thakur Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu said that Congress candidate from Kangra Lok Sabha seat Anand Sharma is a national leader. While Prime Minister Narendra Modi may contest elections from Varanasi, Anand Sharma is a resident of Himachal. He was a Rajya Sabha member from Himachal and opened a passport office in Shimla, gave Rs 150 crore for the development of industrial area in Kandrori, opened NIFT in Kangra, opened a T-board office in Palampur and helped thousands of people through the MP fund. He said that after the formation of the Congress led government at the Centre, Anand Sharma will become a minister in the government. He said that when the BJP candidate was the chairman of Kangra Cooperative Bank, there was a robbery in the bank, information about which is with the government.
On this occasion, Congress Party candidate from Kangra Anand Sharma, Agriculture Minister Chandra Kumar, State Planning Board Vice Chairman Bhavani Singh Pathania, MLA Malendra Rajan, Congress Kangra District President Karan Singh Pathania, party officials and workers were present.
