Bishop Cotton School’s Heartfelt 78th Independence Day Celebration with Manpreet Vohra
Bishop Cotton School recently celebrated the 78th Independence Day with great pride and joy, featuring Chief Guest Manpreet Vohra. The event was filled with tradition and ceremony, as Vohra was warmly welcomed by the school’s NCC contingent with a guard of honour. He then had the honour of hoisting the national flag on the tallest flagpole in Himachal, standing at an impressive 106 feet, while the school’s brass band played the national anthem with fervor.
During a special Chapel service, Vohra, who previously served as India’s High Commissioner to Australia and Deputy High Commissioner to Pakistan, addressed the students with warmth and insight. His speech touched on the challenges India faces as it grows into a global economic power. As an alumnus of St. Edwards, Vohra also shared some nostalgic memories of the friendly rivalry between his school and Bishop Cotton. He recalled being struck by how sharp the Cottonians looked on the Mall and their determination on the sports field.
