Bilaspur will become the first district of Himachal to connect all departments with e-offices
Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh, Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu, has announced plans to connect all government departments with an e-office system to enhance transparency and accountability. He has instructed the Deputy Commissioners of all districts to implement this system in their respective areas. So far, 26 departments in District Bilaspur have been connected to the e-office system. By the end of October 2024, Bilaspur aims to be the first district in the state to have all its departments linked to the e-office system.
Deputy Commissioner of Bilaspur, Abid Hussain Sadiq, shared this information during a review meeting held in preparation for the upcoming Deputy Commissioner and Police Superintendents’ meeting in Shimla on September 28, 2024. The meeting was attended by heads of all district departments.
The Deputy Commissioner reported that the implementation of the e-office system has led to the creation of 5,175 e-files in his office. Additionally, 89,552 e-files have been transferred, 25,995 e-receipts have been generated, and a total of 1,122,020 e-receipts have been transferred. The e-office system has also been introduced in all subdivision and section development offices.
Abid Hussain Sadiq explained that the e-office is a digital workplace solution designed to make government tasks simpler, more responsive, accountable, and transparent. This system helps maintain well-organized records, facilitating quicker decision-making and more effective processes. By moving all work online, it aims to reduce the reliance on paper. The government’s initiative to implement the e-office system is seen as a significant step towards improving efficiency, productivity, and effectiveness.
The e-office system also addresses issues related to finding old files and records, and helps prevent damage from fire, water, or insects.
