BBKSS hail Cong Govt decision over Balh Intl Airport

Balh Bachao Kisan Sangharsh Samiti of Mandi district of Himachal Pradesh hailed Congress government for taking decision to appoint new consultant for survey  proposed Balh airport on non-fertile land.  In q press statement issued here today  Secretary of Balh Bachao Kisan Sangharsh Samiti Nqnd Lal Verma said that BBKSS  held a meeting  under at Mandi on Monday  congratulating formation of the Congress government under the leadership of the Chief Minister of the state, Thakur Sukhwinder. BBKSS expressed hope that previous government was adamant airport to destroying the fertile land of Balh, taking a unilateral decision,  but the new government has entrusted the work to SR Asia organization for the public hearing and social survey of the farmers of Balh, which is welcomes step. They said  that the proposed airport is expected to distroy livelihood for the farmers of Balh, should be built on non-fertile land at some other place.  Verma said that the farmers of Balh have been continuously demanding from the Jairam government for the last 4 years that it should change  to another place because the proposed airport will result in displacement of 10,000 population including 2000 farmer families and 2500 houses of them. He said that project area was not change it would displaced most of farmers who would become landless.  They urged chief minister to build the proposed airport on non-fertile land elsewhere and protect the area, being the only source of livelihood.
