Atal Super Specialty Institute of Medical Sciences Shimla is starting with half-finished facilities

Ahead of the inauguration of Atal Super Specialty Institute of Medical Sciences Shimla (HP), Himachal Kisan Sabha has raised questions before the start of health services in the institute. State President of Kisan Sabha, Dr. Kuldeep Singh Tanwar said that he had earlier also demanded from the government about this through social media not to inaugurate the institute with half-completed facilities in a hurry to take credit and set his name stone. .

Dr. Tanwar said that patients from all over the state including Shimla, Solan, Sirmaur, Kinnaur come to IGMC for specialist services, but due to less capacity, there is more rush of patients in IGMC. Two to three patients of serious diseases have to sleep in the same bed. This is not only inhuman but also poses a risk of serious infection from one patient to another, so there was a need for another institution which is welcomed by Kisan Sabha. But starting it without complete facilities will be fatal for patients of serious diseases.

Dr. Tanwar said that such patients would be admitted in the super specialty, who need the availability of doctors and staff round the clock, but till now there is no residential facility for them in Chamiyana.

The institute still does not have air separator plant to meet the demand of oxygen. Therefore, there will be dependence on oxygen cylinders only. But the width and reach of the road is not enough to carry oxygen trucks.

Dr. Tanwar said that at present there is not enough space in the institute to run the blood bank services as per the prescribed norms. There is also not enough space to provide lab facilities for all the super specialty departments. At the same time, residents and faculty have not been recruited to provide emergency services.

The site is still not selected to build the Operation Theater for the most sensitive department CSVT. At the same time, the cath lab is likely to take another 6 months to start.

There are no preparations for the availability of medicines or food items for the admitted patients. The canteen has not been given to anyone yet.

Dr. Tanwar said that the government should try to provide better facilities by filling the shortcomings soon.

*Doctor. Tanwar said that where this super-specialty institution has been formed, the Chamiyana, which also includes the Malyana and Patgaihar panchayats, were entitled under their wazib-ul-arz, so the government would provide 70 percent employment to the youth of these panchayats in unskilled, semi-skilled and skilled services. give. Dr. Tanwar said that the job of providing employment should not be left to outsourced agencies as they bring cheap workers from outside and ignore the local youth for their profit.
