Apple traders : State police apprehended fraudster from Aurangabad
State Police claimed today that it had arrested a fraudster from Arungabad of Maharashtrafor duping apple growers and local apple traders to lakhs of rupees he was wanted by the state policein two separate cases.
Superintendent of Police Shimla Ms Monica Bhatnaguru said that 35 year old accused Shahid Shafik Bagwan owner of Saif Fruit & Vegetable Commission Agent & Supplier has been arrested from Aurangabad, Maharashtra by Shimla Police.
He had an outstanding payment of Rs 85 lakhs to Maa Bhagwati Fruit Traders at Dethal Kumarsain for the supply of 15 apple laden trucks. FIR u/s 406,407, 420 & 506 IPC has been registered at PS Kumarsain against him.
Similar complaints was also pending against him at police station Rohru where he refused to pay an outstanding balance of Rs 64 lakhs to three local commission agents for supply of 5100 boxes of apples as FIR under sec , 406, 420 IPC has been registered against him. Further investigation is underway.
Hundreds of apple growers and many local traders and commission agents are victims of similar fraud by the culprits and farmers are not getting their payment in time. In similar other complaints Himachal Pradesh High Court had constituted a SIT to disposed of similar cases in the past.
The state Government said that SIT probed only selected cases on the order of high court and other FIR
lodged during the apple season are being registered in the routine manner with respective police stations.
