Anurag Thakur wins Hamirpur seat for the fifth time

Union Information cum Broadcasting Minister Anurag Thakur of the BJP today won the Hamirpur Lok sabha seat with a resounding margin of about 182357 votes.

He defeated Satpal Raizada of the Congress party in almost a one-sided affair.

Thakur got the lead in sixteen out of seventeen assembly segments of his Hamirpur constituency.

So much so that HP Chief Minister SS Sukhu could not save his seat and rendered lead to Thakur in the contest.

Thakur is the elder son of former HP Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal, His younger brother Arun Dhumal is the IPL ( Indian Premier League) chief.

While Thakur got 607068 votes, Satpal Raizada got 424711      votes. All other ten candidates who were in the field from this eat lost their security deposits.

A massive welcome was accorded to Thakur when his victory was announced. Party workers danced in joy took Thakur on their shoulders and sang songs amid the dancing.

Thakur thanked the people of the constituency and the party workers for his resounding victory and said that he would do as per their expectations in the coming five years for which he had been voted for the fifth time in succession.
