Anurag Thakur from Himachal became member of Parliamentary Public Accounts Committee
Union Minister and Lok Sabha MP from Hamirpur, Shri Anurag Singh Thakur has been elected as a member of the Public Accounts Committee of Parliament. This committee examines the annual financial accounts of the government and the amount given by the House to meet the expenditure. It is responsible for examining the accounts showing appropriations. The Public Accounts Committee is a committee of some selected members of the Indian Parliament which audits the expenditures of the Government of India. This committee is prepared with the objective of ensuring that the expenditure of the Government of India is met. It was done so that the money given to the government by the Parliament should be spent on specific and definite items only. Since the Parliament considers complex matters, technical expertise is required to understand such matters better and in such a situation it is The Committees help provide a platform where members can engage with various sector/subject experts and government officials while discussing case studies. The Public Accounts Committee is constituted every year under Rule 308 of the ‘Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business in Lok Sabha’. Shri Anurag Singh Thakur has previously served as Chairman, Parliamentary Standing Committee on IT (2009 to 2014) and Member, Public Accounts Committee Apart from this, Shri Anurag Singh Thakur has served as Minister of State for Finance and Corporate Affairs from 2019 to 2021 and Minister of Information Broadcasting and Sports and Youth Affairs from 2021 to 2024 in the second term of the Modi government.
