Convenor of ACF and former Deputy Mayor Tekinder Singh Panwar said that THE forum is regularly raising this issue of corruption in Shimla Jal Prabandhan Nigam Limited ( SJNPL ). He said that a contract has been awarded to favor a particular person by the previous BJP government escalating project cost from Rs. 250 crores to Rs. 500 crores. He asked that how project would complete its targets. The tender process could not be decided and look after by a private company which was constituted for distribution of water and collections of water charges. Former Deputy Mayor said hat SJPNL could not handle the award tendering process and Board of directors of companies unable to govern the water supply scheme under the urban development department. He seeks to disband the firm as the process of tender and execution of public debt government scheme could not be run by a company constituted under companies act by the previous government . Former Deputy mayor said that in 2016-2017 Shimla MC and state government formed a Greater Shimla Water Supply & Sewage Circle (GSWSSC) to look after the water supply in Shimla town however a private company took over water supply works after changing Shimla MC and state Government. ACF demanded that Shimla MC should takeover this work as it is the sole agency to run water and sewage utility in Shimla town, as mandated under the 74th Constitutional Amendment. He said that to probe the bungling in the works being done by the BoDs and SJPNL should be probed by a SIT and ensure that those who have swindled swathes of money are taken to task, the politicians, bureaucrats, and officers.
