Another cement plants dispute before fledgling Sukhu government
The post of Chief minister was provided to be dais of thorn to Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu as before he completes three months in CMO another cement plant Industrial dispute posing challenge before the fledgling new regime. It was hardly a week passed after resolution of Daralghat and Barmana dispute. The freight charges fixed for truckers in the two plants are already sawn seed for another dispute over the reduction in freight charges by UltraTech Cement Company at Bagha in Solan district which have recently agreed to hike the freight charges. It was subsequent to Sukhu government to reduce the freight charges of Adani Group now arisen the hope for Ultra Tech to also press the demand. This company recently unilateral has order hike freight but it is going to move forwarders to also implement the agreed freight charges with Adani group which was opposed by the operators. The Truck operators informed that a 15-point demand letter was sent to the company on Monday and operator is holding consultation with Ultra Tech at Baga for past two days In this 15-point demand letter, the operators have demanded the UltraTech Company to give 10,000 metric tones of freight daily to various transport organizations engaged in transportation to the cement factory. Apart from this, 100 percent work of transportation of raw material to be brought back to the company should also be given to the operators. The main demands of the operators include closure of the company’s dumps in Himachal, giving equal freight rates for cement and clinker, providing 1500 metric tones of freight per day to Roorkee and Batinda, as well as no reduction in the existing freight rates. Industrial dispute didn’t took shape owing to any prolonged confrontation and disagreement between companies and truck operators but changing of ownership from foreign conglomerate Helicium to Adani in September last year and company’s unilateral action to shutdown Darlaghat and Bharmana cement plants without giving any notice to Government. Latter Adani Cement plants pushed the burden on Truckers for incurring loss in the both plants. Plants remained closed for 66 days which was resolved a week ago as Government persuade Truckers to agree on reduced freight charges in interest of public at large. The upper hand to Adani Cement plants after bargaining on reduced freight charges now also looming large on another cement plants and other industries as government have to bare with similar move by corporate house.
