Airfare slashed on Delhi-Shimla route making it affordable
Alliance Air has announced significant discounts on flights between Delhi and Shimla, with fares now ranging from Rs 2,900 to Rs 4,500. This reduction has made air travel on this route cheaper than taxi fares, which typically range from Rs 13,000 to Rs 17,000 for a journey from Dharamshala to Delhi.
An air journey between Delhi and Shimla takes only 1.25 to 1.5 hours, compared to a 7-8 hour road trip, significantly saving travel time.
Despite the decline in tourism in Himachal Pradesh due to the end of school holidays and the monsoon season, this fare reduction presents a budget-friendly travel option. Hotel occupancy rates have dropped by 30-35 percent even with discounts of 40-50 percent, but the low airfares are expected to encourage more travel between the national and state capitals.
While flight cancellations due to adverse weather conditions do occur occasionally, the discounted fares are anticipated to increase travel between Delhi and Shimla, benefiting the tourism sector and providing an affordable alternative to lengthy road journeys.
