AIIMS Bilaspur Workshop Ignites Innovation and Entrepreneurship in Healthcare
AIIMS Bilaspur recently hosted a workshop on Innovation, Incubation, and Entrepreneurship, marking a significant step toward fostering creativity and entrepreneurial thinking among its faculty and students. Organized by the newly established Innovation, Incubation, and Entrepreneurship Cell (IIEC), the event underscored the institution’s dedication to advancing healthcare through groundbreaking ideas. Generous support from the Directorate of Industries played a pivotal role in strengthening this initiative.
Championing Innovation in Healthcare
The workshop began with an inspiring inaugural address by Executive Director Prof. (Dr.) Vir Singh Negi, who highlighted the transformative power of innovation in healthcare. Stressing the importance of nurturing impactful ideas, he called upon participants to take advantage of government initiatives like Startup India, the Atal Innovation Mission, and programs from the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR). He encouraged attendees to use the institution’s incubation facilities to develop practical solutions for real-world healthcare challenges.
Dean of Research Prof. (Dr.) Anupam Parashar further emphasized the role of the IIEC in empowering faculty and students. He outlined the incubator’s offerings, such as mentorship, resource support, and interdisciplinary collaboration, urging participants to channel their curiosity and problem-solving skills into tangible innovations.

Mr. Gaurav Parulkar from IIT Mandi Catalyst shared the success of their incubator, which has supported over 500 startups in just seven years. He highlighted the importance of mentoring, funding, and real-world problem-solving in creating impactful ventures.
Dr. Rahul Singh from GIMS Noida spoke about opportunities for startups in public hospitals, the role of clinicians in designing cost-effective medical devices, and inspiring success stories, including Matri (a startup featured on Shark Tank India) and a drone-based healthcare innovation.
Dr. Suman Das motivated participants to remain committed to their ideas, focusing on the journey from conceptualization to realization.
Dr. Navdeep Ahuja explored the revolutionary potential of technologies like Artificial Intelligence (AI) and 3D Printing in reshaping healthcare delivery.
