AIIMS Bilaspur observes World Antimicrobial Awareness Week 2024 with focus on education and action
The All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Bilaspur, joined the global initiative to combat antimicrobial resistance (AMR) by celebrating World Antimicrobial Awareness Week (WAAW) from November 18 to 24, 2024. Spearheaded by the Departments of Pharmacology and Microbiology, the event aligned with this year’s World Health Organization (WHO) theme: “Educate, Advocate, and Act Now.”
Activities to Raise AMR Awareness
The celebration featured a range of interactive and educational activities aimed at spreading awareness about AMR. Highlights of the week included:
- Poster Competitions showcasing creative interpretations of AMR challenges.
- Quiz Contests to test and enhance participants’ knowledge on antimicrobial resistance.
- Guest Lectures delivered by experts, emphasizing the importance of prudent antimicrobial use and strategies to curb resistance.
In addition, a sensitization session was conducted at CH Markand, Bilaspur, targeting medical officers, community health workers, and other healthcare professionals. This session emphasized the significance of AMR awareness and prevention strategies, equipping participants with actionable insights to address this pressing global health issue.
