A village will be develop as model solar village in Kangra
The first meeting of the Notified District Level Coordination Committee (DLCC) presided by the Government to review the successful implementation of the Prime Minister Surya Ghar Free Electricity Scheme in District Kangra was concluded today on Tuesday. In this meeting held at the Deputy Commissioner office discussed the expansion of related projects in the district under the Prime Minister Surya Ghar free electricity scheme. The deputy commissioner said that a model will be developed as a renewable energy village in the district under the plan.
He said that the process of selection of ideal solar energy village is being started in district Kangra. Such villages will be eligible to participate in the selection process of ideal solar energy villages with population of 2000 or above and most partners in unconventional energy use. Government will approve Rs. 1 crore for the development of such selected ideal solar energy village and for expansion of green energy in the village. List of eligible villages of district Kangra for selection has been made available to Kangra, Dehra and Dalhousi circles of Himachal Pradesh State Electricity Council. He instructed the departmental officials to select the model solar village by preparing a list of such potential villages as soon as possible.
He said that the selected model solar village will develop a DPR to convert the government-nominated ‘model solar village implementation agency’ village into solar powered village, he said. The Deputy Commissioner said that the Prime Minister Surya Ghar free electricity scheme will be effectively implemented in District Kangra to ensure targets are achieved and reviewed the progress in the plan implementation on a regular basis.
Install solar panels in houses with government deposit
Hemraj Bairwa said that Prime Minister Surya Ghar Free Electricity Scheme has facility of government on grid-connected rooftop solar power plant of up to 3 kilowatt capacity on roofs of domestic electricity consumers under free electricity scheme. 60% of benchmark cost up to 2 kw capacity i.e. 33000 rupees per kw and 40% of benchmark cost at additional 1 kw has the facility of Rs 19800. He stated that people themselves can take advantage of the plan by registering on PM Surya’s online portal.

Project Officer Himenerja and DLCC Member Secretary Ramesh Thakur said that Prime Minister Surya Ghar free electricity plan implementation where being done by ‘Himachal Pradesh State Electricity Council Limited’ as a nodal agency to review the implementation of the plan. Key components of the plan include Central Financial Aid for Domestic Electricity Consumers (CFA), Solar Energy Satisfaction in Government buildings, Incentive amount to encourage local bodies and development of Ideal Energy Village etc.
The aim is to install one crore grid connected rooftop solar power plant on the rooftops of one crore domestic electricity consumers across the country by March 31, 2027, he said that the central government has provided Rs 75021 crore. 65700 crore as Central Financial Aid (CFA) for Domestic Electricity Consumers from above amount, 4950 crore as incentive for discom, 1000 crore as incentive to local bodies, 800 crore rupees for ideal energy gram and awareness and 657 crore rupees has been provided for outreach.
