A former student of IIT Mandi subjected to caste atrocities
A former student of the Indian Institute of Technology, Mandi, has alleged that he was harassed by the hostel catering staff as well as the hostel warden, police said on Friday.
On the complaint of the victim, a case has been registered against five accused under the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe Act at Paddhar police station.
A police team has completed the preliminary interrogation of the accused, all of whom will be summoned to the Kamand police post for further investigation.
The institute management has also formed a committee to investigate the matter.
The accused include the hostel warden. About one and a half months ago, the institute was in the news for several days across the country for alleged ragging of junior students and some controversial statements of the director.
According to the latest version given by the spokesperson of IIT Mandi, a former IIT Mandi student came forward with allegations of harassment during his time at the Institute.

IIT Mandi is committed to cooperating with authorities investigating the matter. Additionally, an internal committee has been formed to conduct a comprehensive investigation into the matter.
