A huge crowd of devotees gathered in Thund on Devshayani Ekadashi
On the sacred occasion of Devshayani Ekadashi, hundreds of devotees flocked to Devta Teeka Sthan Thund in Dev Junga to seek blessings. Notably, during Devshayani Ekadashi, all gods, including Lord Vishnu, enter eternal slumber in the Kshirsagar.
Thund, considered the abode of 22 deities since ancient times, draws devotees from various regions each year during Devshayani and Devutthaan to receive Dev Junga’s blessings. Dev Junga is revered in Spathu (Solan district), Shargaon (Sirmaur), Neineti, Junga (Shimla), Shodhi, New Shaloth, Peeran-Tri, Balog, and other areas, where people consider Dev Junga their Kulaishta.
During Dasuni and Devthan, 22 deities, including the regional deity Devchand, Kunthali deity of Panjal, Manuni deity of Dhar, and Junga deity of Bhanog, gather. Devotees offer gifts to fulfill their wishes. In Dev Junga’s Kalana, people from 22 gotras, such as Khail, Kanogu, Rohal, Shalonthi, Bhonthi, Takral, Chhibbar, Balir, and Saraji, follow tradition. On Dasuni night, they visit the 22 tika site and receive blessings from the deity’s Guru the next day. Festivities accompany this auspicious occasion.
Manohar Singh Thakur and Pritam Thakur, guardians of Junga Devta, trace its history to the royal family of Keonthal State. Junga Devta’s recognition extends throughout Keonthal State. Families in the region invite the deity for special events, including the birth of a son.
Dev Samiti officials, including Premchand Thakur, Deepak Rohal, Manohar Singh Thakur, and Pritam Singh Thakur, graced the occasion.
