A fire broke out in HAS officers firing training program at Junga
Himachal Pradesh Police stated today that a fire broke out during a training program of Himachal Pradesh Administrative Service officers at Junga in Shimla district.
The spokesperson of police stated today that a two days training program of HAS Officers on ‘Rifle/Revolver training’ was being conducted on 23rd and 24th May 2023 at Battalion HQ.
On 23rd May 2023, there was a training session on the introduction of weapons and they were also trained in the handling of weapons.
Also, musketry and aiming of rifles and revolvers were conducted in Battalion Ground. They were also briefed about the discipline and conduct during firing practice in the butt range.
Today on 24.05.2023, in the beginning, trainee officers were briefed about the discipline and conduct of firing range by the Butt Officer, and Target shooting with rifle and revolver was being conducted. During the first phase of firing, long-range weapon (SLR) firing was conducted successfully.
During the second phase when the Pistol shooting was in progress, an incident of fire happened injuring the helper assigned to one of the fire officers in the detail of four. The injured was immediately rushed to IGMC Shimla where he is under treatment and reported to be stable and safe.
The Director General of Police, Himachal Pradesh took cognizance of the same and appointed Sh. Prem Kumar Thakur, IPS, IGP-AP&T as inquiry officer to enquire into the matter and to submit the report of the incident.
