44th 19-yrs-old Maharaja of Sirmaur princely state welcomed
After 75 years of Independence People of country still shows their loyalties and affection towards the members of royal lineage. This hill state has came in existence about 75 years ago on April 15, 1948 with anexing 33 princely states including some popular feudatory state like Sirmour having its roots with Country’s vassal state Jaipur princely. Our report from Nahan said that before 1947, Sirmaur was also largest princely state of North India. In a big deal for local people on Tuesday, the 44th Maharaja of Sirmaur princely state, Lakshyaraj Prakash, reached the royal palace of his princely capital Nahan. On reaching the palace, he was given a grand welcome by the families and local people associated with the dynasty. During this, his Tilak Abhishek was done by Raj Pandit Ramesh Mishra. During the welcome tilak, Rajpurohit Vivek Gautam and Manoj Patel, who was the royal priest of the main deity of the royal family, were also present. The flag of the princely state was hoisted after about 58 years at the Raj Mahal of the princely state of Sirmaur. Whereas when Maharaja Lakshyaraj came to Nahan about 9 years ago after the first coronation, the princely flag was hoisted for some time. Seeing the flag on the entrance of the palace, the old elders ran towards the palace. It was believed that this flag was hoisted only when the Maharaja was in the palace. Lakshyaraj is son of daughter of Rajendra Prakash, the former Maharaja of Nahan, who is now the queen mother of the Jaipur royal family.Since, even today, there are many such religious events and fairs of Sirmaur in which the presence of the royal family is considered mandatory. Maharaja Rajendra Prakash, the last ruler of the princely state of Sirmaur, died in 1964. Till the year 2013, this ceremonial tradition of the princely state of Sirmaur was over but on the request of the families associated with the Sirmour royal family, after the change of gotra, the son of Maharaja Narendra Singh of Jaipur State was declared as the Maharaja of Sirmour princely state and crowned him as Tilak. This Raj Tilak took place in the year 2013 in Nahan. Famous celebrities of the country also reached Nahan during the coronation.Lakshyaraj was only 9 years old during the coronation. In Patrichial Indian society unlike British Monarchy role of woman in such dynasties are very nominal. Lakshya grandson of Rajmata Rani Padmini Devi have to change his gotra for his coronation as new dynast of Bhati Rajput dynasty. After which he became Mangal Tilak and at the same time his name became Lakshya Raj Prakash. It is also worthwhile to mention here that no male or female members associated with the royal family could use Maharaja with their name. It showed that faith of the people of the hill region is still attached to the dynasty of the princely state of Sirmaur. According to the information received, even today if someone builds a new house, then the soil of the palace is definitely mixed in it under a ritual. Lakshyaraj Prakash told that he has liked it very much to come to Sirmour. He also said that soon he would open the doors of the palace to a limited extent for the common people as well. He also said that he will definitely come to Nahan whenever he has holidays from school. He said that even though kings may not rule today, their feelings are attached with the people of Sirmour. If I can do something for the people here, it will be a matter of great fortune for me. It is pertinent to mention that Lakshyaraj is studying in Class 11 at Millfield School in England. His father Maharaja Narendra Singh is an international golfer. Whereas the 44th 19-year-old Maharaja of Sirmaur is very fond of playing cricket and football. Maharaja Lakshya Prakash will be on Sirmaur stay for about 3 or 4 days.On reaching Nahan, Kanwar Ajay Bahadur Singh, Kanwar Abhay Bahadur Singh, Kanwar Narveer Singh, Kanwar Rajendra Sudhir, Satish Dileep, Rajesh Anil, Rajak Sudhir, etc., associated with the royal family were also present mainly. Sirmaur being largest states in the state had extended boundaries from Kalsi in Uttarakhand to Pinjore in present-day Haryana, Punjab, Morni, Nogal of Rampur Bushahr, Surri Sutlej. After the British rule and the Gurkha war, the boundaries of the princely state of Sirmaur were reduced. This last ruler, Maharaja Rajendra Prakash, was considered an efficient ruler as well as an excellent administrator. The country’s oldest and first turpentine industry, which is under the Himachal government today, apart from this Nahan foundry is also a contribution of the princely state of Sirmaur. Apart from the forest conservation land system, other municipalities of the country are also considered to be the gift of the royal family. Around 1890, the city of Nahan was also given water from 50 kilometers away without any motor pump etc. YS Parmar, the first Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh, was also the Chief Justice of this princely state. However, even though the kings of kings have ended, but even today there are many such rites in which the first place is given to the royals
