40 HRTC bus conductor tested corona positive
As many as forty Himachal Pradesh Road Transport Corporation Conductors were tested positive during 3rd wave of Covid-19, Joint Coordination Committee secretary Khemendra Gupta aprised Himachal Pradesh Government to hold to ensure safety of bus staff while serving on duty.
In a statement issued here today Mr Gupta said that fear are looming among staff members that while issuing tickets in the buses they may contracted to Covid pandemic.
Meanwhile Transport Minister Bikram Singh Thakur is taking daily update of staff members being infected on their duties and instructions have been given to staff members to take necessary precautions.
Mr Gupta said that conductors of Himachal Pradesh Road Transport Corporation are constantly turning corona positive as number Cases increased to 40. He said that now the conductors are hesitant to issue the tickets with the passengers in crowded buses.
HRTC management is also considering to change present system ticketing passengers as conductor would sit on the first seat and Tickets to be issued to passengers from window before the departure of bus.
Only after having tickets safely tmm the passengers would be allowed to board v the bus for travel.
The HRTC Joint Coordination Committee has demanded the corporation management to implement this arrangement.
Apart from this JCC is demanding for sanitization of buses, arrangement of soap for drivers and operators, scans for thermal screening of passengers etc.
The management has also suggested for new seating arrangements in the buses as no one would occupy first, second and third seats and Cabins are being built for the drivers inside the buses until this arrangement is done, a ropes have been placed around the driver seat.
No limitations have been made of sitting capacity in the buses so far by the management to avert difficulty to passengers, JCC secretary added.
