29 cloud burst witnesses in 3 yrs in HP
Revenue Minister Mohinder Singh Thakur stated in the Assembly on Friday that 29 clouds burst has occurred till 30 July 2022 have taken 19 precious lives including nine in Kullu district and 10 in Lahaul-Spiti. Replying a call attention of Asha Kumari of Dalhousie member of Congress Mr Thakur informed that Bilaspur Chamba, Kinnaur, Kullu, Lahaul-Spiti, Shimla were hit by cloud burst in the three years.No cloudburst was reported from Kangra, Solan, Sirmaur, Hamirpur, Una and Mandi. Two incidents were reported in 2021 and 2022 and 14 livestock were reported to be dead. On incident occurred in Chamba district in the year 2021 and there was loss of 10 sheep and goat.Four cloud burst incident occurred in Kinnaur district in 2019, 2020, 2021 and 2022.Six incidents took place in Kullu district during the years in 2020, 2021 and 2022.12 houses, 7 camping sites, water mills and Dhabas 5 each, 6 livestock , damage to Malana project and one bridge were damaged.In Lahaul-Spiti district there were six incidents in the year 2021 in Lahaul and 75 percent of loss of crops of 718 farmers to the tune of Rs 30,58,082 was reported.Shimla reported two incidents in the year 2021.The government will take help of France Development Institute for study for the increasing cloudburst. It was also informed that the Disaster Management Department with the help DGRE will setup Automatic Weather System at 61 places.Help will be taken from other institutes, Defense Geo Informatics Research Establishment (DGRE), Indian Institute of Remote Sensing,Wadia Institute of Himalayan Studies GB Pant of Himalayan Studies.
