102 candidates left in the fray for Shimla Municipal Corporation Election

Including 54 women as many as 102 candidates were left in the fray for Shimla Municipal Corporation Election as five candidates withdraw their nominations on Friday.

State Election Commissioner Anil Khachi said that as many as 102 candidates left in the fray after the scrutiny and the last date of withdrawal today.

 He said that a total of 109 candidates filled their papers during nomination from April 13 to 18 two papers were rejected in the scrutiny and five candidates withdraw the paper moving out of the race.

Among 102 candidates 34, each put their papers from Congress and BJP, 21 on AAP,  4 on CPI(M), and 9 on the symbol of Independent. 

After the withdrawal, the contest become apparent as there is a triangular contest on 16 wards, a direct contest in ten, Four corner contests in seven, and six corners in one ward.

In the fray number of women, candidates are more than men as 16 wards are reserved for women in the 34 wards. 

The election would be held on May 2 and the counting of votes and result to be declared on May 4.

Now 102 candidates are in the fray.  ADM Rahul Chauhan says that election symbols have been issued to all the contesting candidates.  The list of contesting candidates is as follows.
